JLPL continues its commitment to community development and women empowerment with the successful certification of the third batch of candidates from the JLPL Sewing Skill Center at Village Mataur, Mohali.
Launched in July 2023, the Sewing Skill Center was established with a clear vision – to equip local women with employable skills, promote self reliance and create long term livelihood opportunities. With the completion of its third batch, the center has taken yet another meaningful step towards transforming lives through structured skill development.
Government – Recognized Skill Certification
What sets the JLPL Sewing Skill Center apart is its focus on quality and credibility. A special evaluation team from Delhi visited the center to assess the candidates through a formal testing process. Students who successfully cleared the assessment were awarded certificates.
All certified candidates received a Skill Development Certificate, officially recognizing them as having achieved the Sewing Skill Level 4 – a qualification that enhances their employability and opens doors to future income generating opportunities.
Distribution of Machines, Kits and Certificates
To support the candidates beyond training, JLPL ensured that skill development translated into practical empowerment. During the certification event, successful candidates received.

- Educational kits (registers and learning material)
- First aid kits
- Essential hygiene items including soaps
Community Appreciation and Support
Ms Gurpreet Kaur, councilor of Mataur Sewing Skill Center, addressed the gathering and expressed her gratitude to JLPL and the honourable Managing Director for consistently investing in the growth and empowerment of the local community.
