The upcoming 30 kilometers long, six lane traffic signal – free corridor is expected to reduce travel time by 40 to 50 minutes, strengthen regional connectivity and support Mohali’s growth as a residential and commercial destination.
Mohali is set to benefit from a significant infrastructure development with the upcoming opening of the Mohali – Ambala stretch of the Chandigarh – Ambala Expressway, scheduled for December 15, 2026 subject to the completion of pending work and necessary clearances. The 30 kilometers, being developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), will connect the Ambala side to IT City Chowk in Mohali, offering commuters a faster and more convenient travel route.
A Faster, More Convenient Travel Experience
Designed as a six-lane, signal free corridor, the greenfield expressway is expected to save commuters approximately 40 – 50 minutes by helping them bypass congested stretches around Zirakpur and Dera Bassi. The improved route will make travel between Haryana and Chandigarh Tricity region more efficient, while also enhancing access to Mohali International Airport and other key destinations.
The new stretch will connect with the IT City – Kurali Greenfield Expressway, which is already operational. Together, these corridors are expected to strengthen connectivity across Punjab, Haryana and neighboring northern states, making intercity travel smoother for daily commuters and long distance travellers alike.
Mohali’s Growth Potential
Improved road infrastructure plays an important role in shaping the growth of emerging urban destinations. With better connectivity to Ambala, Chandigarh and surrounding regions, Mohali is poised to benefit from enhanced accessibility for residents, professionals and businesses.
The expressway is expected to improve access to major employment hubs, commercial centers and institutions while helping ease traffic pressure on existing routes. Such infrastructure developments can further strengthen Mohali’s appeal as a destination for residential investment and long term urban growth.
A Positive Outlook
For homebuyers, connectivity is an important consideration when choosing a place to live. Better road networks can make daily commuters more convenient, improve access to essential destinations and contribute to the overall appeal of a residential location.
As Mohali continues to evolve with expanding infrastructure and urban development, projects such as Mohali – Ambala Greenfield Expressway reflect the region’s growing focus on accessibility and planned growth. These improvements reinforce the importance of choosing a home in a location that is well connected to the wider Tricity region.
At JLPL, we recognise that a well connected neighborhood is an important part of a comfortable and convenient lifestyle. As Mohali’s infrastructure continues to develop, the region’s expanding connectivity offers an encouraging outlook for residents and prospective homebuyers.
Mohali is moving towards a more connected future, creating new possibilities for everyday convenience and sustained urban development.
